APPLICATION -- Discovering PLACE 2020 Summer Institute: Inspiring Care, Empathy, & Action

UM-Flint Discovering PLACE is offering a limited number of FREE registrations to K-12 educators for its 2020 Summer Institute for Educators. Participants are encouraged, but not required, to enroll in teams of 2-3 teachers from the same school; cross-content area and cross-grade collaboration is welcomed. More than one team per school may register. Teams and new participants will receive priority registration. Individuals will be notifed by July 1 if their application has been accepted if space permits.

The Summer Institute is a week-long, place-based education focused, distance learning workshop with synchronous and asynchronous components. Two additional follow-up sessions will be offered in Fall 2020 (not to exceed 20 hours total professional development).

Face-to-face online meetings:  Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday - July 14, 15, & 16, 2020; Check in: 8:30am, Start time: 9:00am - 12:00 EDT  *  Virtual office hours will be scheduled to assist teachers with asynchronous learning activities: Monday, July 13 from 9:00-11:00am &  Friday, July 17, 2020 from 1:00-3:00pm

Benefits of participation:
* All teachers that complete the PD sequence will receive a $300 stipend
* School teams are eligible to receive $500 per school to support PBE projects during the 2020-2021 school year
* 14.25 SCECHs will be awarded for participation in the summer institute pending state approval
* Ongoing support and coaching during the school year provided as needed
